An interesting task was waiting for United Decor in this project. The Customers house is situated in a rustic Italian styled countryside district. But after the initial interview, it became clear that the clients were keen on traditional english interiors, which conflicted with the italian architecture of the house. However, the designers found a graceful solution. A new story for the house was created. Designers pretended as if an english family bought a house in the north of Italy to move there permanently and, moving over, kept all monumental parts, like architecture and interior finishes, but brought all furniture with them from England. There was a danger to end up creating an interior in “historical” style, but designers managed to create modern interior, keeping historical atmosphere.
According to the concept travertine style tiles on the floor, italian rustic plaster wall finishing appeared in the house. Modern fire place, that almost melts with the wall in the living room, created a contrast.
Layout of the house was imposed by its architecture and country side living style.
Double glass doors lead from the small antechamber to the spacious and festive entrance area. The Tuscany red wall and chequered tiles on the floor, together with massive plaster mouldings, set the mood for the entire house. It contrasts well with the rest of the light shades used in kitchen and dining room and this fulfils the owners main wish- to create a feeling of air and space.
All furniture in the house is a mixture of both countries motives: sofas group in the living room is an English shape but together with traditional English textile and Itaian silk with Damascus ornament is used. Wooden English kitchen furniture matches with Italian rustic tiles and chocolate granite counter top.
Bed headboard in master bedroom has a traditional for Italy decorative shape, but alcoves are decorated with traditional english William Morrison wall coverings. Amazing mixtures are continued in the master bathroom, where carrara marble blends with traditional english sanitary ware.
Harmony of this project is based on such contradictions: despite this all, interior make an impression of common and unique space.
